Nara is a historic land with many World Heritage sites and national treasure buildings
The ancient city of Nara has many historic temples and shrines
Among these, there are several places known as “power spots”
Today we will be introducing the fourth part of our series on power spots in Nara (⋈◍>◡<◍)✧♡
[Tanzan Shrine (Sakurai City)]
It is known as the place where the Taika Reforms were discussed, and Fujiwara no Kamatari is enshrined here.
It was called “Kataraiyama” (Discussion Mountain) because he and Prince Nakano Oe held secret talks about reforming the country on this mountain, and this is where the shrine name came from❣❣
Within the temple grounds is the thirteen-story pagoda, which was built to commemorate Fujiwara Kamatari.
It is the only surviving wooden thirteen-story pagoda in the world and is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
Tanzan Shrine is home to the goddess of marriage, Kagami-no-Hime, and is famous for its blessings in finding love (⋈◍>◡<◍). ✧♡
Princess Kagami is enshrined at Koijinja Shrine (official name Higashiden) at the end of the approach to the shrine, Koi no Michi.
Fujiwara no Kamatari’s wife Princess Kagami lived a happy life here, so she is enshrined as the goddess of marriage.
Next to Koi Shrine, there is a power spot called “Musubi no Iwaza” where a god resides✨
It is said to bring good luck not only in love but also in human relationships(*´꒳`*)🌙✨
It’s also famous as a place to see cherry blossoms and autumn leaves❣❣
If you visit at the peak of the season, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery even more🎶
[Tamaki Shrine (Totsukawa Village)]
This ancient shrine is said to have begun in 37 BC during the reign of Emperor Sujin, when Hayatama-no-kami was enshrined there to protect the royal palace from fires and ward off evil spirits.
Since ancient times, it has been one of the training grounds for the Kumano-Omine Shugendo pilgrimage that stretches from Kumano to Yoshino (*´꒳`*)
It is said to have been the innermost sanctuary of the Kumano Sanzan during the Edo period, and flourished as a great sacred place of Shugendo❣❣
In 2004, it was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, “Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range”🎶
Tamaki Shrine is located near the summit of Mount Tamaki, which is 1,076 meters above sea level and is one of the sacred mountains of the Omine mountain range.
A pure white jade stone is enshrined within the grounds of the subordinate shrine Tamaishi-sha!
This stone is known as a power spot, and is said to be the origin of the name Tamaki.
In addition to the main hall, there are various other shrines within the grounds, including the auxiliary shrine, Mitsuhashira Shrine, and the subordinate shrine, Tamaishi Shrine.
The surrounding Jindai cedars and giant cedar trees are designated as natural monuments by the prefecture.
The shrine office is a designated tangible important cultural property of the nation (⋈◍>◡<◍). ✧♡
This is a very rare shrine with the divine power to ward off evil spirits.
It is said that in the past, exorcisms of demons were performed on the imperial family here. 🎵
It may be a source of support for those who have been unlucky or who have important events coming up, such as entering college or getting a job. ✨
It is also said that Tamaki Shrine is a shrine that you cannot reach unless you are called by the gods.
So, you may be granted some kind of blessing when you visit❣❣
That’s all for today’s power spot introduction
There are still many more power spots in Nara
We’ll introduce the spots we couldn’t introduce this time next time (⋈◍>◡<◍). ✧♡
