Brain activation in Calligraphy
Activation of the left and right hemispheres of the brain
The left hemisphere of the brain is activated when thinking about character forms such as stop and spring, while the right hemisphere is activated when pursuing original character forms.
Improved creativity, intuition and memory
The act of writing with a brush activates the right hemisphere of the brain and improves creativity and intuition.
Memorising and expressing the shapes of letters also strengthens memory and activates the brain as a whole.
Secretion of dopamine
The excitement that comes from the sensation of being inked or the paper being stained with ink is called intellectual curiosity and causes the brain to secrete dopamine.
Dopamine has positive effects of growth, including a sense of well-being, improved memory, motivation and positive feelings.
