~~💗☆彡💛~~Hello, this is Tea Ceremony & Calligraphy shop Waplus Nara~~💛☆彡💗~~
Today, I would like to tell you about “Hatsugama”.
Hatsugama is the first tea ceremony of the new year.

Its name comes from the fact that the kettle is lit for the first time in the new year, and it carries the connotations of “the beginning of lessons” and “a New Year’s party.” It is often held by mid-January, and uses water drawn on New Year’s Day (wakamizu), auspicious utensils for celebrating the new year, and participants typically wear gorgeous kimono such as furisode or houmongi.

In the Urasenke school, hanabiramochi is used. This sweet originates from the Imperial Court’s “tooth-hardening ceremony.” It is a crescent-shaped white mochi filled with white miso and sweetly simmered burdock. The thin bean paste peeks through the mochi, creating an elegant appearance. The saltiness of the miso and the flavor of the burdock are an exquisite match.

At Tea Ceremony and Calligraphy Shop Waplus Nara, sessions are held daily at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM.
