The Art of Japanese Calligraphy “Shodo”

❤️❤️Hello, this is Tea ceremony shop Waplus Nara❤️❤️

I would like to introduce about Shodo today.

What is Shodo?

Do you know about Shodo?

Japanese calligraphy is called Shodo in Japanese.

Shodo literally means “the way of writing.”

It involves using a brush,  sumi ink, and Hanshi paper to create beautiful characters.

Unlike Western calligraphy.

Shodo emphasizes not only the form of the charactors

but also the spirit and energy of the artist.

The Spirit of Shodo

Shodo is not just about technique; it’s also about cultivating a calm and focused mind.

It’s a form of meditation in motion, where the artist strives to achieve harmony

between the brush, ink,  and Hanshi paper.
