The rainy season is starting to show its signs.☔
Even during the humid rainy season, there are plenty of wonderful things to see in Nara❣❣
Today we will introduce you to some of the best places in Nara to see beautiful hydrangeas during the rainy season✨
Did you know that hydrangeas change color depending on the acidity (PH) of the soil?
The color changes depending on the year, time, and location, so you can enjoy a variety of different expressions🎶
Hydrangeas bloom during the rainy season☔✨
You can enjoy their charm on rainy days as well as sunny days❣❣
★Recommended Hydrangea Spots★
[Hannya Temple (Nara City)]
It is said that the temple dates back to the Asuka period when Goguryeo monk Huikan built a temple here❣❣
It is famous as a flower temple, and is also known as the “Cosmos Temple” because about 150,000 cosmos flowers bloom there in the fall✨
From the rainy season through early summer, about 300 hydrangeas decorate the temple grounds❣❣
The “Hydrangea Glass Ball,” which began in 2021, is a glass ball with hydrangea flowers placed inside a spherical glass🎵
It has attracted attention on social media (Instagram, etc.) and has become a popular spot with a sharp increase in visitors in June❣❣
Hannya-ji Temple is the pioneer of this “hydrangea glass ball” (⋈◍>◡<◍). ✧♡
There are plenty of other things to see within the temple grounds❣❣
[Yatadera Temple (Yamatokoriyama City)]
Yata-dera Temple is actually called Yata-san Kongo-san Temple.
Located in the middle of Yata-yama, in the center of the Yata Hills, it is one of the sacred places where Jizo worship originated❣❣
At Yataji Temple, we started planting hydrangeas around 1965 in honor of Jizo, the principal deity.
Also known as the “Hydrangea Temple,” the temple grounds are home to approximately 10,000 hydrangeas of 60 different varieties, from climbing hydrangeas that begin to bloom in mid-May to Chinese hydrangeas that bloom around September.
[Hasedera Temple (Sakurai City)]
The origins of Hasedera Temple date back to 686, when the monk Domyo placed a copperplate Lotus Sutra painting on the Nishinooka hill of Mount Hatsuse for Emperor Tenmu❣❣
It is also dated to 727, when Tokudo Shonin first created the principal image of the temple, the Eleven-Headed Kannon Bodhisattva.
Hasedera Temple, also known as the “Temple of Flowers,” is filled with beautiful flowers that bloom throughout the seasons 🎶
About 3,000 hydrangeas are in full bloom from mid-June to early July each year ✨
Hydrangeas are blooming all over the mountain (⋈◍>◡<◍). ✧♡
Especially on the “Arashi no Saka” slope leading from the Niomon Gate, hydrangeas decorate both sides of the stone steps, making it a delight to see❣❣
