Thin tea and Thick tea (usucha and koicha)

~~☆💛💗☆~~Hello, this is Tea ceremony and calligraphy shop Waplus Nara.~~☆💗💛☆~~

I’ll tell you about Thin tea and Thick tea today.

The tea we serve at our tea ceremonies is called “thin tea (usucha)”.

but did you know there’s another type of tea?   It’s Thin tea called koicha.

These two types of tea differ in terms of matcha concentration, tea leaves, and preparation methods.

To make thin tea, pour 60 ml of hot water for every 2 g of matcha, then stir with a chasen (tea whisk).
For koicha, pour 40 ml of hot water for every 4 g of matcha,

then knead the mixture as if smoothing it out.

Thick tea                                                                   Thin tea

Thic tea should be made with high-grade matcha that has less astringency and bitterness.

This will give the tea a thick, rich, mellow flavor.

At  Tea ceremony and calligraphy shop Waplus Nara, everyone is welcome to experience making and drinking matcha tea.
Sessions are held three times a day: 10:00, 13:00, and 15:00.
We look forward to seeing you!
