Welcome to Tea ceremony and Calligraphy shop Waplus Nara.

We have received some questions from customers, and we love that!

Today also we got it. They asked us “why do you rotate the tea bowl?”

It was a good question!

The reason is that we don’t drink from the beautiful front to show our humble heat.

Each tea bowl has a “face” or “front”. It shows amazing and beautiful pattern.

The host presents the tea bowl with its front facing the guest.  The guest avoids drinking tea from the front of the bowl to show respect, gratitude and humility towards the host.

That is why we rotate the tea bowl. We think this is really Japanese spirit. We hope that we keep this humble heart forever.

We hold three sessions daily at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM.
