💗💚~~Hello, this is Tea ceremony and Calligraphy shop Waplus Nara~~💚💗
Welcome to Tea ceremony and Calligraphy shop Waplus Nara.
Calligraphy is called “Shodo” in Japanese.
Today, we would like to introduce `First comes the will, then the brush`.
In an orchestra, the many instruments guided by a conductor, blend in perfect harmony to create wonderful music. Without a conductor, this music would not be possible. The same can be said for calligraphy. When writing, it is important to always keep in mind what you are going to write next, letting your will guide the way and guide your brush. Only in this way can feelings be expressed in the work and rhythm be born. This is known as “intention before brush,” and it is here that printed type differs from handwritten characters.
Although type may be beautifully shaped, it lacks the deep spiritual beauty that comes from spirit and rhythm.
Furthermore, even written characters cannot be called calligraphy unless the heart that creates beauty takes precedence.
When do the mind and hand become one?
1. When your mind is happy and relaxed.
2. When your mind is fresh.
3. When the weather is mild and the air is not too dry.
4. When the paper and ink blend well and you are in good rhythm.
5. When you have the desire to write.
When your mind and hand become one, you can finally relax your attitude and let your mind take the lead in creating beauty.
Works created in this way have free-flowing handwriting and a musical rhythm.

At Tea Ceremony and Calligraphy Shop Waplus Nara, we hold sessions three times daily at 11:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 4:00 PM.
