Why do you make sounds at the last sip ?

💗💚~~Hello, this is Tea ceremony and Calligraphy shop Waplus Nara~~💚💗

We have received some questions from customers, and we love that!

Today also we got it. They asked us “why do you make sounds at the last sip?”

It was a good question!

We would like to introduce about the reason why Japanese people make sounds at the last sip in tea ceremony. It is called “Suikiri” in Japanese. The reason is that it is a sign to the host from the guests. They have finished drinking tea. Then, the host move on the next step. Another reason is that it was so delicious that the guest could finish it up,and it was an expression of gratitude and satisfaction to the host.

We think  “Suikiri”  is a “Sounds of Japanese aethetics”.

Let’s do a tea ceremony experience and try to make soft sounds together!

We hold three sessions daily at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM.
Why don’t you come and experience a beautiful tea ceremony?

We look forward to seeing you💚💗
