We have received some questions from customers, and we love that!

Today also we got it. They asked us “when did the tea ceremony  become popular among women?”

That is a good question!

Originally , the tea ceremony was for men, but women started it since Meiji Period. It was infruenced by

the Japanese Meiji Enlightenment. And it was introduced into the girl’s school. The reason is to learn

beatiful etiquette and kindness for people through the tea ceremony. After Edo Period,the women need

to acquire culture. Yae Niijima who is a wife of Jyo Niijima also learned the tea ceremony, and spreaded

it. So it was from Meiji Period through early Showa Period that the tea ceremony spread rapidly among

women. Now, both men and women enjoy it. The tea ceremony is a Japanese beautiful and important

culture,so we hope to keep it to our future.

 

We hold three sessions daily at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM.
