Juko Tea Gathering ~Nara Grand Tea Ceremony~

~☆💗☆💛☆~~Hello, this is Tea ceremony &Calligraphy shop Waplus Nara~~☆💛☆💗☆~

Today I’d like to talk about Juko Tea Gathering -Nara Grand Tea Ceremony.

The Jukō Tea Gathering is a large-scale tea gathering event held during winter in Nara at historic buildings and shrines/temples. Named after Murata Jukō, who founded “wabi-cha”—the origin of the tea ceremony—in Nara, it aims to promote the appeal of tea ceremony culture and attract tourists. Seven schools, including Omotesenke and Urasenke, participate, offering authentic tea ceremonies and hands-on experiences at World Heritage sites like Kasuga Taisha Shrine and Tōdai-ji Temple.

This year marks the 12th edition, which will be held on five dates:
February 7 (Sat), 8 (Sun), 11 (Wed), 14 (Sat), and 15 (Sun), 2026.

Tickets are required, but some sessions still have available seats, so if you’re interested, why not give it a try?

At Tea Ceremony Shop Waplus Nara, we share the history of tea and how to enjoy matcha.

Sessions are held three times daily at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM. If you’re visiting Nara, please do stop by our shop.
