💗💚~~Hello, this is Tea ceremony and Calligraphy shop Waplus Nara~~💚💗
We have received some questions from guests and we love that!
Today also we got it. They asked us “What is the Tokonoma? “
That is a good question!
When you enter a tea room, the first place that catches your
eye is the tokonoma (alcove).
The tokonoma is a special space that expresses the spirit of
Japanese hospitality and omotenashi culture.
A hanging scroll and seasonal flowers are displayed there,
quietly conveying the feeling of the season and the host’s thoughts to the guests.
In the world of the tea ceremony, the tokonoma is not simply a decorative space.
It is considered a place that reflects the host’s heart and serves to welcome guests with sincerity.
The origin of the tokonoma is said to date back to the Shoin-zukuri architectural style of the Muromachi
period. We are sure you will enjoy our tea ceremoney with a solemn Tokonama.

We hold three sessions daily at 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 3:00 PM.
Why don’t you come and experience a beautiful tea ceremony?
We look forward to seeing you💚💗
