\u00a0Today I will introduce the “natsume”, one of the essential tea utensils in the tea ceremony.<\/p>\n
The “natsume” is a lidded lacquerware container used to hold matcha powder.
\nIt is typically made of a wooden base coated with lacquer.<\/p>\n
\nThe maki-e technique is often used, where designs and patterns are painted<\/p>\n
onto the lacquered surface and then decorated by<\/p>\n
sprinkling powdered gold, silver, or other metals.<\/p>\n
Natsume decorated with maki-e are highly valued as works of art.<\/p>\n
\nNatsume decorations often feature seasonal patterns, and they are used according to the time of year.<\/p>\n
