Today also we got it. They asked us “What is the Tokonoma? “<\/span><\/p>\n

That is a good question!<\/span><\/p>\n

When you enter a tea room, the first place that catches your<\/p>\n

eye is the tokonoma<\/em> (alcove).<\/p>\n

The tokonoma is a special space that expresses the spirit of<\/p>\n

Japanese hospitality and\u00a0omotenashi culture.<\/p>\n

A hanging scroll and seasonal flowers are displayed there,<\/p>\n

quietly conveying the feeling of the season and the host\u2019s thoughts to the guests.<\/p>\n

In the world of the tea ceremony, the tokonoma is not simply a decorative space.<\/p>\n

It is considered a place that reflects the host\u2019s heart and serves to welcome guests with sincerity.<\/p>\n

The origin of the tokonoma is said to date back to the Shoin-zukuri<\/em> architectural style of the Muromachi<\/p>\n
