🌸 What Makes Chion-in So Special?

Chion-in Temple is the head temple of the Jodo sect of Buddhism, founded by Honen Shonin.

Located in the heart of Kyoto’s Higashiyama area, it’s only a short walk from Yasaka Shrine and Maruyama

Park — making it a perfect stop during your sightseeing day🚶‍♀️✨

The temple’s most iconic feature is the Sanmon Gate, a designated National Treasure.

Standing over 24 meters tall, it is the largest wooden gate in Japan.

This year’s illumination welcomes back the beloved “Yuzen Light Corridor.”

Inspired by the elegance of traditional Kyoto yuzen dyeing, the path shimmers with intricate light patterns that unfold beneath your feet as you walk👣🌸

It feels like strolling across a luminous silk fabric — elegant, soft, and utterly dreamlike.💖

At the Amida Hall, the mesmerizing “Waves of Light” dance across the reflecting pond, blending perfectly with the crimson leaves🍂

Every step reveals a different color, a different emotion — as if the lights themselves are breathing with the autumn breeze.

Inside the Miedo Hall, gentle illuminations inspired by Honen Shonin’s teachings invite you into a quiet, spiritual moment🕯️
